Sushi Suite 202 - Lincoln Park Chicago by Sushi by Bou
About This Spot
Stepping into Sushi Suite 202 in Lincoln Park is like uncovering one of Chicago’s best-kept culinary secrets. Hidden discreetly behind an unmarked door, this intimate setting invites just six guests at a time into a realm where sushi is less a meal and more a quietly unfolding story. The pace here is unhurried, allowing the night to deepen around small conversations, shared smiles, and genuine connections—both with the flavors on your plate and the person crafting them.
The atmosphere glows with a soft warmth, a delicate balance between exclusivity and a welcoming sense of belonging. This isn’t a bustling restaurant; it’s a sanctuary for those who savor the art of thoughtful dining. You arrive not just to eat, but to witness and participate in a ritual that blends tradition with creative curiosity. The chef, an artist in his own right, engages with each guest, transforming the moment into something personal and memorable without ever breaking the calm rhythm of the evening.
The experience unfolds through a carefully curated sequence of courses, each bite revealing layers of texture and depth—from richly nuanced seafood to unexpected flavor pairings that challenge and delight. Sake flights and cocktails are seamlessly woven into the journey, enhancing the tastes and moods without dominating the narrative. Whether it’s the velvet touch of wagyu beef or the surprising creaminess of uni ice cream, every element feels deliberate—inviting reflection and appreciation.
Sushi Suite 202 extends beyond traditional dining; it’s a place where the everyday notion of a night out is transformed into a quietly spectacular gathering. Here, the intimate space, the artful precision of the cuisine, and the warmth from the team create a rare kind of evening where time slows and connection takes center stage.

One of my favorite anniversary places to go to! My boyfriend and I celebrated our 1 year together here and it was such an amazing experience!! Definitely recommend getting the cocktail pairing with your experience. The ambiance of this place is very intimate and exclusive. Our chef connected with everyone on some kind of personal level, and really made the whole experience inclusive with everyone there, which was only 2 other couples.

It was such an intimate and unique experience. Crit, the Chef was so interesting and gentle. An artist who took pride in his craft. The drinks were delicious and The host, i forgot his name, was engaging and really made it a special experience. It ruined regular sushi for me forever!

What an awesome fun experience. Chef Mike was very entertaining knowledgeable, and willing to take any and all questions while preparing some of the best sushi I have had in my life. My wife also said it was some of the best sushi she has had in her life as well. It was well worth the price of admission and I have no doubt I would do it again in the future. It only holds 6 people so prepare to get to know your dining mates but after the meal you can sit in the small connected lounge to continue enjoying drinks.

There is no sign. No kitchen. No menu. Just six seats, seventeen courses, and one unforgettable evening behind the door marked 202. This is not a sushi dinner. It is a hidden experience disguised as one. You walk down a hotel hallway and enter what feels like a secret clubhouse for those who know how to eat well and live better. Chef Chris is an artist disguised as a chef. Every piece he served was deliberate and elegant. From A5 wagyu crowned with caviar to perfectly balanced hand rolls, each course was a nod to precision, restraint, and joy. The Omakase is not rushed nor rigid. Want an encore of your favorite bite? They will oblige. Want to linger afterward and spin some vinyl from the corner record shelf? That is encouraged. McKenna, our bartender and drink guide, struck the perfect balance of warmth and knowledge. She offered us tastings to help us discover the right sake and introduced us to Japanese whiskeys that made us rethink our preferences. It is intimate without being stuffy. Elevated without taking itself too seriously. This is Omakase for people who enjoy storytelling, craft, and the kind of memories that start with “Remember that sushi dinner in the hotel room?” Pro tip: bring someone who appreciates the details. The rest will take care of itself.

Great creative possibly Asian fusion omakase experience with lots of fish varieties flown from Japan with nice sake pairing.

Incredible variety of flavor while maintaining a genuine experience! Favorites included truffle and lime zest. Also, hands down the best uni I've ever had (granted, only my second... But the first was at a michelin star in NYC).

I'm from out of town and decided to pick this restaurant for my birthday as I wanted to do a highly rated omakase experience with close friends who also traveled. I was especially excited because of the very intimate atmosphere that was described, since there are only 6 seats available in a hotel room, kind of like speakeasy style. The food was amazing and the chef was also great and really fun to talk to. However, I was honestly very disappointed with the service. I have done omakase another time before and learned that if you show up late, you will start late and miss out on some of the courses. So I made sure that we showed up 15 minutes early as requested. Despite that, we waited for a total of 45 minutes, and started our experience 30 minutes after our scheduled start. I find it hypocritical that I will be charged a late fee or even cancelled yet still charged if I show up late, but there was absolutely no service or even apologies for starting so late and having to wait almost an hour at the bar while another group was obviously being taken priority of. Then, there is a small lounge section directly behind the omakase bar for the leaving group to finish drinks at, etc. I think this is a fine concept. Except for that this group was EXTREMELY loud and disruptive, to the point where we could not hear what our sushi chef was saying to us. I was disappointed with this because that is part of the omakase experience that I really enjoy; learning about the fish and talking with the chef. But it was to the point where our group could only converse with the people directly next to who you were sat to. Now, I am not angry or upset at the prior group. However I am upset that the team at Sushi Suite did not recognize how this was interrupting our paid experience and politely trying to fix the situation so we could have had a similar experience to them, because I assure you my group was not disruptive to either our prior or the next group when it was our turn in the lounge. It just felt like they did not care about our experience. We even bought our sushi chef a round of drinks, and I feel like it just showed our emphasis on being good polite guests but not getting nearly the same treatment back. Furthermore, tips are automatically included in the bill. This is fine and understandable for this type of restaurant and experience, however this is not advertised anywhere when I made a reservation. And for once, I would've actually probably tipped less than I was forced to because of my disappointing experience with the service, which I would have reflected on my tip. So truthfully, I don't know if I would go again. Obviously I'm sure this experience does not happen often, but if there were ever any kind of disturbance in your experience, I would not expect the service to be reflected to change that as I feel like other fine dining experiences would.

Anniversary Night at Sushi Suite 202 We celebrated our anniversary at Sushi Suite 202 in Lincoln Park, and it was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the start, Ivan was mixing up some seriously delicious cocktails, each one better than the last. McKenna made the night extra special with her incredible sake knowledge. She walked us through each pairing like a pro, and everything matched perfectly with the food. You can tell she really loves what she does, and it made the whole experience feel personal. Then there’s Chef Ken, absolutely amazing. Every piece of sushi he served was a work of art, and he made us feel so welcome. His energy and talent truly made the night unforgettable. If you're looking for a unique, intimate spot for a special occasion, this place is a must. We’ll definitely be back.
